WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 12 Wake Forest women's tennis team rebounded with a pair of wins on Sunday afternoon against No. 30 Virginia Tech and Elon.

The Demon Deacons (10-4, 1-2 ACC) began the day with a 5-2 victory over the 30th-ranked Hokies (8-2, 1-2 ACC) before dispatching Elon with a 7-0 win to conclude the weekend.

Match 1 - Virginia Tech

The Demon Deacons began the day in strong fashion, securing all three doubles victories to take a 1-0 into singles play against the Hokies.

The Deacs clinched all three doubles matches within minutes of each other, with Lexi Franco and Mary Caroline Meredith earning the clincher at No. 3. Anna Ulyashchenko and Eliza Omirou also earned a win at No. 2, giving Ulyashchenko 100 wins as a Demon Deacon.

Wake Forest cruised to the victory with a stellar singles performance, winning the first four singles matches before Virginia Tech took the final two after the match had already been decided.

Omirou clinched first with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2. Moments later, Chandler Carter won in straight sets at No. 3 and Joanna Zalewski closed out her match with a dominant second-set performance to ensure a Demon Deacon victory.

After the match was clinched, Emma Davis added another point for the Deacs with a straight-set win at No. 1.

The Hokies took the final two matches, winning a third-set tiebreaker at No. 4 to conclude the match.

Match 2 - Elon

Wake Forest continued its momentum into doubles competition against Elon (7-7). The Demon Deacons took all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 edge into singles play. The 31st-ranked team of Carter and Davis cruised to a 6-0 win before Franco and Meredith rallied from a deficit to take their match, 6-4.

In singles play, the Deacs rolled to victory by winning all six matches in straight sets. Ulyashchenko got things started with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 followed by Davis's 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1.

Carter clinched Wake Forest's 10th win of the season with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3.

With the outcome already in hand, Meredith, Franco and Omirou also claimed straight-set victories to give the Demon Deacons a clean sweep over the Phoenix.

Up next, the Deacs will have a week off before returning to action next Sunday, March 11 with a nonconference doubleheader against Winthrop and Liberty.
