Wake Forest opens the 2015 spring season with an ITA No. 60 national ranking and will do battle with Winthrop and Charleston. The Demon Deacons finished 2014 ranked 61st.
For the remaining dual matches this season, the Deacs will play against 18 ranked teams of the 25 total opponents, three of them are currently ranked in the top-10. The Deacons play three ranked opponents in the month of January.

Wake Forest returns seven players who saw extensive action a year ago and six were regulars in the top six.
Karen Forman and Kasey Gardiner were named team captains on Friday by head coach Jeff Wyshner.
Forman is currently three total victories away from 100 for her career. She has 97 victories in singles and doubles combined in her time at Wake Forest.
Andrea Retolaza Andrade returns after spending most of last year at top singles. She finished with a 12-20 overall record, including 7-14 in the No. 1 slot.
Kasey Gardiner occupied the No. 5 singles spot most frequently, where she went a team-best 12-6, finishing with a team-high 23 singles victories.
Forman earned a 15-4 record, finishing the season with the best winning percentage on the team.
Luisa Fernandez (20-15), and Xue Zhang (20-17), were the other two players other than Gardiner with 20 singles victories during the 2013-14 season.
Freshman newcomer Courtney Meredith had a strong fall debut with the Deacons finishing 10-1 overall in singles and 8-3 in doubles play.
The ITA Shortened Format >>
This format is in effect for NCAA matches before teams head into their conference portion of their schedule.
There is no-ad scoring in singles and doubles.
Three doubles matches will be played, each match one set to six, with a tie-break at six-all.
Followed (after a five-minute intermission) by six singles matches, each match two out of three sets, with tie-breaks at six-all.
There are no warm-up with opponents in doubles and in singles.

The Cougars finished last year with a 18-8 record, earning a national ranking as high as No. 62 for the week of Feb. 25, 2014.
No. 62 Winthrop is picked to win the Big South title this season. After not being ranked the first half of last season, the team jumped up to as high as No. 56 for the week of April 8, 2014 and finished the season ranked No. 60 by the ITA.

Deacons Drop 4-3 Heartbreaker to No. 71 Winthrop
Wake Forest took a 3-1 overall lead but could not hold off a late Winthrop rally, falling 4-3 to the No. 71 Eagles on Saturday afternoon on the Leighton Courts at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
