Women’s Tennis Adds Nihalani

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest women’s tennis head coach Jeff Wyshner announced Monday (April 23) that Saby Nihalani has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Wake Forest. Nihalani will join the Demon Deacons for the beginning of the 2018-19 season.

Nihalani will arrive at Wake Forest from New Delhi, India and has achieved success on the court in both national and international competition.

At the national level, Nihalani has been ranked in the top 10 of the U-12, 14, 16 and 17 domestic rankings. She has been the National Champion in India in singles and doubles in the U-16 category and added a runner-up finish at the singles U-14 level. Nihalani has competed in multiple domestic national tournaments and has taken home Silver and Bronz medals in national school team championships.

Internationally, Nihalani represented India in the Junior Fed Cup. She has been ranked as high as No. 219 in the ITF Junior Rankings. In addition, Nihalani has won an ITF G-5 tournament in Guwahati and an ITF G-5 doubles victory in Portugal.

“I am incredibly excited to welcome Saby to our Wake Forest tennis family,” Wyshner said. “Her tennis successes at both the national and international level are significant. She brings a great work ethic and energy to her tennis and her academics. As we got to know her during her visit, we definitely saw someone who would be a great fit at Wake Forest and with our group.”

The Demon Deacons closed out the regular season on Sunday and will take on No. 14 seed Notre Dame this Wednesday, April 25 at 11:30 a.m. in the first round of the ACC Women’s Tennis Championship in Cary, North Carolina.
