WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest women's tennis players Martina Pavelec and Kayla Duncan were ranked nationally in singles in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason rankings, which were released on Friday. Pavelec came it at No. 34 on the list, while Duncan is ranked No. 79.

Pavelec, an All-ACC selection as a sophomore in 2010, had an outstanding season 2009-10, posting a 16-9 overall record, including six wins over ranked opponents. The Stuttgart, Germany native was the recipient of the ITA Player to Watch Award for the Carolina Region.

Duncan, a Winston-Salem native, will kick off her first season as a Demon Deacon after transferring from TCU. The junior was named to the All-Mountain West Conference team in both her freshman and sophomore seasons for the Horned Frogs. She finished 2010 ranked No. 27 in the nation in doubles after advancing to the second round of the NCAA Doubles Championships.

The Deacs will open fall tournament play the weekend of Sept. 17-19 when they travel to Charlottesville, Va. for the UVA Invitational.
