WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team will compete in its first event of the fall season this weekend when it travels to Charlottesville, Va for the UVA Fall Invitational.

Seven Demon Deacons will be playing in the event, including Kayla Duncan and Kathryn Talbert, who are the top seeds in the A Doubles draw. Duncan and Talbert are ranked No. 7 in the country in doubles, the highest ranking for a Wake Forest team since 2002. Freshmen Karen Forman, Rebecca Siegler and Zane Zarina will be making their Demon Deacon debuts in the tournament.

"We are excited to start the season and get back to playing competitive matches," said head coach Jeff Wyshner. "The tournament has some strong players in it that will push our team and also give our freshmen a good taste of what college tennis is like."

Both Duncan and Talbert will also be competing in the A Singles draw. Ryann Cutillo is the top seed in the B singles draw, in which Zane Zarina is also playing. Forman is the No. 3 seed in C Singles and is joined in the draw by fellow Deacons Siegler and Brigita Bercyte.

All three Wake Forest doubles teams are competing in the A Doubles draw where Duncan and Talbert are the No. 1 seeds. Siegler is partnering Zarina and Cutilo will team up with Forman.

Players from Virginia, NC State, Old Dominion, VCU, William & Mary, UNC Greensboro, Winthrop and Marshall are also competing in the event, which will run from Friday to Sunday.
