Wake Forest to Host USTA/ITA Carolina Regional

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest will host the USTA/ITA Carolina Regional Championships this week that will bring the top women's tennis players from the states of North Carolina and South Carolina to the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.

The tournament will start on Thursday, Oct. 18 with the singles and doubles finals scheduled for Monday, Oct. 22. The qualifying singles draw and doubles main draw are now available, with the singles main draw set to be released following the conclusion of qualifying.

Wake Forest will have six representatives in the tournament in Kasey Gardiner, Andrea Retolaza Andrade, Kathryn Talbert, Karen Forman, Brigita Bercyte and Xue Zhang.

Forman, Bercyte and Zhang will play Thursday in the singles qualifying round, while Gardiner, Retolaza Andrade and Talbert earned direct acceptance into the 64-player main draw which starts play on Friday.

The Demon Deacons will also enter three doubles teams. Talbert and Gardiner are in the group of teams seeded 5-8, and are joined in the main draw by duos of Forman and Zhang, and Retolaza Andrade and Bercyte. All three Wake Forest doubles teams received first-round byes and will begin doubles play Friday.
