WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest women's tennis coach Jeff Wyshner announced Tuesday that prospective student-athlete Karen Forman has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Wake Forest next fall.

A native of Del Mar, Calif., Forman holds an impressive resume, having led Torrey Pines High School to the Avocado League and California Interscholastic Federation championships in all four of her years at the school. She was named the Avocado League Player of the Year in 2010 and was a three-time recipient of the Breitbard Hall of Champions Award of Athletic Achievement for the All-Avocado League Girls Tennis Team as well as the All-CIF San Diego girls tennis team.

"I am really excited to have Karen be my first commitment at Wake Forest because she is such a great example of everything we want the Wake Forest tennis program to be," said Wyshner. "She is obviously an outstanding tennis player, but she is also a really strong student, a fun person who will be a great part of the team and a tenacious player who brings her best both in matches and in practice. She is going to be a great Demon Deacon, and she will play an important role in what this team becomes over the next four years."

In addition to her success on the tennis court, Forman is a standout in the classroom, having been named a Torrey Pines Scholar Athlete in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and a Union Tribune Scholar Athlete in 2009 and 2010.

Forman is the sister of former Wake Forest men's tennis player and three-time All-American Steven Forman who played for the Demon Deacons from 2007-2010, winning the program's first-ever national championship and ranking second in school history with 94 doubles victories.
