Kasey Gardiner Signs with Wake Forest Women's Tennis
Nov. 16, 2011
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest head women's tennis coach Jeff Wyshner today announced the signing of high school standout Kasey Gardiner. Gardiner, a native of Novi, Mich., will join the Demon Deacons in the fall of 2012.
Rated a five-star recruit by the Tennis Recruiting Network, Gardiner is ranked as the best player from Michigan in her class and in the top 30 nationally. In two years of high school tennis at the Greenhills School, she played No. 1 singles and posted a perfect 44-0 record, never even dropping a set in a match, to help lead the Gryphons to the 2009 State Championship.
"Kasey is an outstanding talent both on the court and in the classroom. Even more importantly, she is an exceptional person who immediately fit in with both the team and the University during her visit," said Wyshner. "On the court, she has a well-defined sense of what she wants to do, and she is already very solid on the doubles court as well. She'll definitely have an immediate impact on our program next year, and with her obvious passion for playing the game, she should continue to improve and, ultimately, have an even bigger impact in the years that follow."
Gardiner has been the No. 1 ranked player both in the state of Michigan and in the USTA Midwest Section. She won the 2011 Midwest Closed Singles Championship and was a finalist in both singles and doubles at the National Open last July. She also won a National Open doubles title in December of 2010.
