Nov. 24, 2008

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Kathryn Talbert has signed a National Letter of Intent to play with the Wake Forest women's tennis team beginning next fall.

"We are very excited that Kathryn will be joining Wake Forest, she was a great student-athlete at Lake Norman High," Wake Forest head coach Chad Skorupka said. "It is a great time for athletics at Wake Forest and she will continue to work hard to make the Wake Forest Women's Tennis a top team in the ACC."

Talbert, a native of Mooresville, N.C., is currently ranked 30th on TennisRecruiting.net and recently won the 2008 Winter Closed Southern Championship. Talbert also claimed the North Carolina's 3A singles title this season at Lake Norman High School.

"Kathryn is very strong from the baseline and can generate a lot of pace on the ball, she will have an immediate impact in the line-up," Skorupka said.

Wake Forest will begin the 2009 dual match season in January, taking on Appalachian State and Winston-Salem State on the 17th.
