Both Wake Forest competitors earned All-American honors at NCAA Championships
The Wake Forest senior finished second in the 1,500m run and will join Jessie Merckle and Katie Adair at the national meet.

Competed in the javelin seven times ... Capped her 2015 campaign with a season-best toss of 53.29m (174-10), the second-best throw of her career, at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. to earn First Team All-American honors (placed seventh) ... Tabbed an All-American for the second time in her career ... Placed second in the javelin at the ACC Championships with a mark of 52.61, earning all-conference honors for the third-straight year ... Won both the Georgia Spec Towns National Team Invitational and the Wake Forest Open ... Competed in the javelin and finished 15th place with a top distance of 49.19m (161-4) at the USATF Senior Championships in late June.

New mark broke her own Wake Forest school record and the ACC Championship meet record in the event ... Competed once in the 60m, finishing with a seventh-place time of 8.52 at the season-opening JDL College Kick-Off Classic.
Merckle was the Pennsylvania State Champion in javelin in 2012 and was named to the 2012 Track and Field News All-American in the javelin ... She ranked fourth nationally at the end of the 2012 season in the javelin with a personal best of 156-8 ... Earned four varsity letters in track and field and basketball for Fort Cherry High School in McDonald, Pa. ... Merckle was a two-time all-district honoree an all-state selection and a three-time WPIAL champion in javelin ... Merckle currently holds Fort Cherry High School individual school records in the javelin (156-8), the shot put (38-10), the long jump (17-2.25) and the triple jump (34-10.5) ... Placed second in the javelin at the USATF World Youth Trial in Myrtle Beach, S.C., in June of 2011 and second overall at the Junior Olympic Championships in Kansas during July of 2011 ... Was also a three-time all-district and an all-state basketball player for the Rangers.
