Wake Forest Wraps Up Final Day of ACC Championships

By Scott Siegler, Wake Forest Athletic Communications (@WakeTrack) BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Wake Forest track and field team closed out the ACC championships on Saturday at the Rector Field House in Blacksburg, Virginia. After some strong finishes on Friday, the Deacons had several athletes competing in the final rounds on Saturday. The women's team finished 11th after earning 13 points throughout the weekend while the men's team finished 10th in the conference with nine points. After qualifying for the finals on Friday, junior Thomas Bojanowski persevered to a fifth place finish in the 800m run with a time of 1:51.72. On the women's side, the Deacons were well represented in the 3,000m run with five individuals competing. Junior Kaitlyn Oliver was the first Deacon to cross the finish line placing 14th and coming in at 9:48.57. Behind Oliver were four freshmen as Ashley Brubaker, Samantha Jones, Kathleen Darling, and Meredith Kilburn finished 19th (10:00.11), 21st (10:04.48), 23rd (10:04.81), and 26th (10:07.97), respectively.
