CLOVIS, Calif. --
Alexandria Florent and Alva Hicks of the Wake Forest women's track and field team competed at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships at Buchanan High School's Veteran's Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif. on Saturday night.

Florent participated in the high jump, while Hicks competed in the hammer throw. Both student-athletes placed seventh.

In the high jump, Florent cleared 1.72m on her third attempt to take seventh place in a field of 16. Only four competitors were able to clear the next height progression, 1.77m. North Carolina's Nicole Greene won the event with a height of 1.83m.

Hicks set a personal record in the hammer with a toss of 57.38m (188' 3"), edging her school-record and Second Team All-ACC distance of 57.20m (187' 8") from the ACC Outdoor Championships. Joy Mcarthur, who competed unattached, won in the 11-athlete field with a mark of 62.07m (203' 8").
