BOULDER, Colo. - The Wake Forest volleyball team dropped a road match, 3-0, to Colorado on Saturday afternoon in their final contest of the Omni Invitational in Boulder, Colorado.

The Deacs finish the tournament at 1-2 and now own a 4-2 overall record this season.

Kylie Long led the Demon Deacons, with 17 kills, one shy of her season high of 18, set against UNCG on Aug. 26. Long and Katie Moore tied for the team with three blocks apiece.

The first set was closely contested, with neither team able to gain much separation throughout the set. The Deacs built a 22-20 lead, but Colorado won five of the last six points to take the set, 25-23. Despite losing the set, the Deacs recorded 20 kills, compared to 18 for the Buffaloes.

In the second set, Wake Forest and Colorado were tied, 10-10. However, the Buffaloes reeled off six straight points to build a 16-10 lead. From there, the Deacs were unable to mount a rally, falling, 25-18.

Colorado jumped out to a quick lead in the final set, forcing a pair of early Wake Forest timeouts. The Deacs cut their deficit to 15-12, but the Buffaloes kept them at bay, clinching the match with a 25-15 third set win.

Up next, Wake Forest returns home to host the Wake Forest Invitational, which begins next Friday, Sept. 8 at the LJVM Coliseum. The Deacs will play three matches, starting Sept. 8 at 7:00 p.m. against William & Mary.
