Wake Forest Comes Up Short Against Georgia Tech

By Nick Sebesta, Wake Forest Athletic Communications (@SIDeacons) WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -Behind Monique Mead's 15 kills, Georgia Tech defeated Wake Forest 3-0 (17-25, 19-25, 20-25) in Reynolds Gym on Friday night. Kristin Grissom had nine kills in the match followed by Andrea Beck who had eight kills. Grissom also recorded two block assists. Megan Miller had 12 digs, while Kylie Hargreaves and Heather Kraft each had double-digit digs defensively. Beck had five kills in the first set which started off close. Georgia Tech pulled away from the Demon Deacons after maintaining a 12-10 lead. Using a strong run, the Yellow Jackets outscored the Deacs 15-5 to win the set 25-17. In the second set, Hargreaves had three kills and no errors along with five digs, leading the way for Wake Forest. Both teams were tied at 17, but Georgia Tech closed out the set winning 25-19. Grissom had five kills and no errors in the third set, but the Yellow Jackets had seven blocks in the frame en route to a 25-20 win. Wake Forest rallied in the final points off back-to-back kills from Beck and Grissom, but the Deacs couldn't complete the comeback, falling 3-0. Annie Czarnecki had nine kills for Georgia Tech (14-4/6-2 ACC) while Bailey Hunter had eight. Danae Rosendall had 24 assists in the match for the Deacs. Wake Forest (7-12/1-6 ACC) is back in action on Saturday night with a home match against Clemson at 5 p.m. in Reynolds Gym.
