CHESNUT HILL, Mass. -Sophomore Jazmen Russell led Wake Forest on Sunday with a career-high 20 kills as the Demon Deacons defeated Boston College 3-1 (28-26, 20-25, 25-13, 25-21).

Russell hit .384 on the day while adding nine digs, one solo block and one block assist. Andrea Beck had 13 kills while Kylie Hargreaves had 10 for the Deacs.

Wake Forest went up early in the first set 9-3 which included a 4-0 run behind the serving of Heather Kraft. Boston College eventually fought back in the set and pushed it to a 26-26 score, but after an attack error from the Eagles and a service ace from Beck, the Demon Deacons won 28-26.

BC controlled the second set and won 25-20 without relinquishing the lead throughout the frame. The third set began close between the two teams, but Wake Forest began to pull away with a 8-0 run that included several Eagles hitting errors. Kraft finished off the set with a service ace as the Deacs won 25-13 to go up 2-1.

Both teams played close again in the fourth set until Wake Forest took a 9-8 lead after a kill from Russell. Fittingly, with the Deacs leading 24-21, Russell buried a kill as the Demon Deacons won their second road ACC match of the season.

Beck had two solo blocks and two block aces in the win while Megan Miller had a team-high 29 digs. Danae Rosendall had 48 assists and Kristin Grissom had seven kills.

Courtney Castle had 15 kills to lead Boston College (10-17, 4-11 ACC) while Katty Workman had 11 in the match.
