Wake Forest Suffers 3-0 Defeat at Georgia Tech

ATLANTA - In the final road match of the season, Wake Forest fell 3-0 to Georgia Tech (18-25, 16-25, 26-28) on Friday night.
Georgia Tech took a quick lead over the Demon Deacons in the first set, going up 8-2. After going up 9-3, Hargreaves notched a kill before Russell recorded three-straight kills to make it a 9-7 lead for the Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech went on a couple quick runs near the end of the set to win 25-18. Russell had six kills in the set to lead the Deacs.
The Deacs took an early 3-1 lead off two kills from Russell and a solo block from Beck. Georgia Tech though kept Wake Forest at bay for the rest of the set, winning 25-16.
Wake Forest trailed 4-1 in the third set until the Deacs came back to tie the Yellow Jackets at six. After trading points back and forth, the Demon Deacons tied the match back at 12 after a kill from Hargreaves.
Both teams kept it close late in the set with Wake Forest taking a 23-21 lead after another kill from Hargreaves. Georgia Tech fought back though and won the set 28-26, taking the match 3-0.
Monique Mead had 14 kills to lead Georgia Tech (19-11, 10-9 ACC). Bailey Hunter added 10 kills for the Yellow Jackets.
Wake Forest (10-21, 4-15 ACC) heads home to face Duke on Tuesday night in Reynolds Gym. Beck and Kraft will be honored for senior day with a pre-match ceremony.
