The Matchups:

- Wake Forest returns home to the LJVM Coliseum for the first time in 2017, as they host the Wake Forest Invitational.
- The Demon Deacons begin action on Friday, Sept. 8, hosting William & Mary at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 9, the Deacs play two matches, beginning at 10 a.m. against USC Upstate. Then, at 7:30 p.m., the team concludes the tournament by taking on Maryland Eastern Shore.

Last Time Out:

- Wake Forest delivered a 1-2 record at the Omni Invitational in Boulder, Colorado last weekend. The Deacs lost the opener to Rice, 3-0, before taking down Abilene Christian, 3-1, in their second match last Friday.
- In their one true road match of the tournament, the Deacs fell to Colorado, 3-0.
- Kylie Long and Caitlyn Della were named to the Omni Invitational All-Tournament Team.

Wake Forest Storylines:

- Long is off to an outstanding start to the season for the Deacs. She leads the team with 78 kills and 3.71 kills per set. She also ranks second on the team in hitting percentage (.253) and digs (37).
- Long was named the Spartan-Demon Deacon Classic Tournament MVP, as she led the Deacs to a 3-0 record in their opening weekend.
- Wake Forest has tallied more total blocks than its opponents in all six matches to start the season.

Scouting the Opponents:
- William & Mary has recorded a 2-5 record early in 2017, after going 8-21 in 2016. The Tribe are under the direction of second-year coach Melissa Ferris.
- USC Upstate is off to a 2-4 start to 2017, but has won two straight matches after dropping their first four.
- UMES is 5-2 in its first seven matches of the season. The Hawks have won four straight matches and just took home the championship of the St. Francis Brooklyn Terrier Invitational. Junior Lucia Babic was named the tournament's MVP.

Looking Ahead:
- The Deacs will head north to take part in the Penn State Classic next Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15-16 in University Park, Pa.
- The Deacs will play three matches, starting Friday, Sept. 15, at 5 p.m. against Ohio. Then, on Saturday, the Deacs will play two matches, starting at 10 a.m. against national power Penn State, before concluding the tournament against Yale at 4 p.m.
