Nov. 23, 2011
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Junior Andrea Beck and freshman Danae Rosendall have both earned All-ACC honors in voting conducted by the league's 12 head coaches. The results were announced by the conference office on Wednesday morning. Beck has been named to the All-ACC Team, while Rosendall has been named to the ACC All-Freshman Team. The award for Beck marks the second straight year that she has been named to the All-ACC Team. She missed the first 10 matches of the year due to an injury, but the Winston-Salem native missed just one ACC match - the ACC opener Duke. Beck finished the year third on the team with 271 kills and a .314 hitting percentage in just 20 matches. In her 19 ACC contests, Beck was second on the team with 245 kills (3.27 k/s) and had a .296 percentage. She also added 49 total blocks and 60 digs. Rosendall - a Hudsonville, Mich., native - has already been named ACC Freshman of the Week on two separate occasions this season. She earned those awards on September 19 and November 7. The 6-2 setter was the starter from the beginning of the season and finished the year with 1,104 assists, 193 digs, 95 kills and 53 total blocks. Her assist total is the 11th best by any Demon Deacon in school history for a season, and it is also the third-most by any Wake Forest freshman in a season. Rosendall's dished out assists at a higher rate in ACC action, recording 10.45 assists per set in 20 conference matches. Miami's Lane Carico was named ACC Player of the Year, Duek's Ali McCurdy was named Defensive Player of the Year, North Carolina's Cameron Van Noy was named Freshman of the Year and Florida State's Chris Poole was named Coach of the Year. Beck and Rosendall helped Wake Forest finish ninth in the ACC in 2011 with a 9-20 overall record and a 6-14 record in conference action.
