Wake Forest Finishes Ninth at ACC Championships
Samantha Jones was among the top 21 finishers on Friday, earning All-ACC honors.

EARLYSVILLE, Va. - Samantha Jones earned All-ACC honors, finishing 21st individually, to lead Wake Forest to a ninth-place team finish at the 2014 ACC Championships on Friday morning at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Virginia.

Jones finished the 6k course in 20:53.5, beating her September time on the Panorama Farms course by 18 seconds. Jones' postseason conference honor just adds to her breakout season, which has seen the junior from Randolph, New Jersey win two races and earn an ACC Performer of the Week honor.

Freshman Cate Allen placed 30th in her first ACC race, finishing in 21:05.9. Junior Kathleen Darling was not far behind Allen, taking 36th place in 21:18.5.

Sophomore Ellie Abrahamson ran a 21:44.0 to finish 64th, while senior Kaitlyn Oliver rounded out the Deacons' scoring five in 93rd in 22:11.5. Sophomore Kathryn Lazarchick was a second behind Oliver in 94th in 22:12.4.

North Carolina won the women's ACC title, finishing with 57 team points to beat Florida State who had 99 points in second place. Boston College's Liv Westphal won the individual title in 19:43.8.

Wake Forest returns to action in two weeks at the NCAA Southeast Regional on Friday, Nov. 14, in Louisville, Kentucky.
