Wake Forest Finishes Eighth at NCAA Southeast Regionals

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Senior Caitlin Chrisman turned in a 12th-place finish to lead Wake Forest to a eighth-place showing at the NCAA Southeast Regionals Saturday afternoon at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park.
Chrisman ran a 20:54.10 to place 12th out of 225 runners in the 6k race. She led the Demon Deacons who scored 233 team points on the day. Wake was just 10 points behind Liberty for seventh place.
Junior Merry Placer was second for the Deacs, finishing 41st in 21:37.40.
Freshman Jessica Barton rounded out the scoring for Wake Forest, placing 96th in 22:22.20.
Freshman Cate Berenato was the sixth Deacon competing at the meet. Berenato ran a 23:00.80 to finish 134th.
North Carolina's Brianna Felnagle took home the individual title by running a 19:52.25.
NC State won the 31-team meet with 106 points. Duke and North Carolina were second and third with 114 and 124 points respectively.
Six of the top eight teams were from the ACC, as were five of the top six individuals.
